Living Room Makeover

Happy Hump Day, friends!

My first at week at work is going great so far! But then again, I haven't been working. I've been in a three-day training program all week learning literally everything there is to know about my company. We heard presentations from each group, learned about the beer, wine and spirits category, tasted a few products, and even went a couple of sales calls. It was a lot to take in, but I feel so much more knowledgeable about the company and the role I'll play in it, which is an exciting and important one. Wish me luck on my second first day tomorrow!

In the meantime, as you know, one of my goals before turning 30 was to re-do our living room. There wasn't really THAT much wrong with it, but it needed a face lift. When Bryan and I bought our place a few years ago, it was right around the time my dad was moving in with his wife, so he gave us his living room furniture and coffee table set. Like I said, face lift time.

(Don't mind my hubby.)

We still haven't replaced the couches and chairs, but we replaced the glass coffee table and mismatched end tables with a leather ottoman that can serve as a table, storage and/or foot rest. We paired those with two dark wood end tables. My husband feels like they're mismatched, and while he's right that not all of the wood pieces are identical, they all complement each other nicely.

When we got married, we registered for bright pillows in purple and yellow, and I replaced those with more neutral brown and burnt orange, plus a nice patterned pillow. (Yes, there are too many pillows, but they will serve a purpose once we get our bigger couch.)

Finally, I added a rug to play off the color scheme and add some texture to the room.

There you have it! It's not everything, but it's a nice start. What do you think?
