Friday's Fancies: Game Day

Happy Friday, ya'll!

I've touched a little bit on how much I love football. You know that my grandpa played for the Green Bay Packers in 1946, so Packers are in my blood. I've stood by them in good times and in bad, through Superbowls and embarrassing losses (ahem, like last year's playoff game).

And although I went to the University of Kansas, they never had much of a football team — that's putting it mildly. As such, for college football, I've always backed the Iowa Hawkeyes, having grown up in Iowa City.

Now, I get a lot of shit for my football preferences. Living in Chicago, it's no surprise that I get heckled by Bears' fans daily. I also take it for picking and choosing the teams and sports I want to root for. For example, Hawkeye football and Jayhawk basketball. You know what they say — Haters Gonna Hate and I do what I want!

Today I'm linking up for the first time with {av}, whom I also have to thank for my awesome blog design, for Friday's Fancies!

I've gotta say, this was so much fun! And, it was also perfectly timed because... I have a confession to make.

I'm going to the Bears game on Sunday.

Gasp! I know, I know. But what I can I say? The husband and I were offered free tickets, we've got our good friends in town who are diehard fans and I'll never pass up the opportunity to tailgate on a beautiful fall day. So there you have it. But I'm stressing about what to wear. I can't—literally, can't—bring myself to wear a Bears shirt. I just can't do it. I figure I can skirt the issue by wearing something in Bears colors, so as not to feel too much like a traitor.

Those who know me know that I'm low-maintenance. My style is cute and comfortable, first and foremost. And, a lot depends on the weather. I'm not afraid to sport a sweatshirt and Uggs in the freezing cold. But this link-up is all about imagination, so I've created two looks for the perfect fall day: one for the Packer game I've never been to and what I wish I could wear this weekend.

Game Day

I'm dying for a pair of these boots, but I can't for the life of me figure out why they cost close to $300? I love me these Citizens of humanity jeans, especially the straight leg. They're great to tuck into boots, or to wear with a cute flat. I love this t-shirt because it reminds me of something I might have found in Dad's closet and then cut the neck myself to give it a little sex appeal. Pair it with a cute sweater, simple earrings and an amazing tote and we're ready!
Game Day 2

Let's be honest, I could totally rock this look, Bears game or not. There's not one thing I don't love about this outfit. What do you guys think?

Who are you rooting for this weekend?

    1. Thanks, Bonnie! New follower back at YOU :)

I don't actually dress like this for football games. I'm usually much more lazy and stick to jeans and sweatshirts, but since money isn't an object for Friday's Fancies, a girl can dream! In my weekend update I'm posting later today, I'll show you what I wore to the Bears game yesterday :)

Thanks for reading and for the support!
